Gliding Club Software Glossary

Plain-English definitions for the operational, fleet, training, safety, tracking and finance terms used across GlideHQ.

01Aerotow
A launch where a powered tug tows a glider. GlideHQ records linked glider and tug movements with separate aircraft, pilots, usage and billing facts.
02Authoritative flight
The reviewed Operations record that other parts of the club system may rely on. A tracking observation is not authoritative.
03Candidate match
A suggested link between tracking evidence and an Operations flight. Ambiguous candidates stay unresolved until a person reviews them.
04Confirmed flight
A flight whose operational facts have been reviewed and confirmed. It can then drive owned consequences such as usage, recency, training and charges.
05Defect
A recorded problem with a fleet asset. Closing a defect records its resolution but does not automatically restore serviceability.
06Financial party
The person or organisation responsible for a club account entry. It remains separate from the GlideHQ subscription account.
07Flying day
The shared operational context for flights, launch points, people, aircraft and field activity on a particular club day.
08Launch point
The active place and configuration from which the club operates launches on the airfield.
09Movement
The aircraft-specific operational part of a flight. Aerotow has linked glider and tug movements.
10OGN
The Open Glider Network. GlideHQ treats approved OGN observations as advisory evidence and respects device privacy settings.
11Operational reinstatement
A separate authorised action that restores a fleet asset to operational service after restrictions and defects have been considered.
12Qualification evidence
The factual proof, status or date held for a pilot qualification. Club rules interpret that evidence separately.
13Recency projection
A factual view of recent confirmed flying activity and relevant dates. It supports, but does not replace, club judgement.
14Restriction
A named operational limit placed on an aircraft or account. Its reason and authorised removal remain visible.
15Rule pack
A versioned set of effective-dated club rules used to interpret qualification evidence and operational context.
